National Healthcare and Housing Advisors Enters Strategic Partnership with Care Closet LBC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LONG BEACH, CA, AUGUST 26, 2024 – National Healthcare and Housing Advisors (NHHA), a leading firm providing tailored advisory services and integrated solutions to address the housing and healthcare crisis for vulnerable populations, is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with Care Closet LBC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing direct essential resources to the unhoused and underserved community members in Long Beach.

Through this partnership, NHHA and Care Closet will combine their collective expertise to deliver coordinated outreach, connect individuals to resources, and ultimately address the critical needs of the community.

By leveraging NHHA's existing partnerships, Care Closet will be able to connect unhoused community members to more comprehensive health services offered by Whole Person Care Clinic (from mental and physical health to substance abuse counseling) and offer a direct pathway to supportive housing solutions through Encompass Housing.

“Care Closet LBC acknowledges homelessness as a multifaceted health crisis, deeply intertwined with various social and economic factors. We approach unhoused individuals as complete beings with dreams and aspirations, rather than mere statistics. Our vision is to facilitate their journey toward increased self-reliance, self-sufficiency, and self-worth. The significant impact we achieve is driven by our committed volunteers, whose dedication makes our mission possible.” – Duke Givens, Founder & President, Care Closet LBC.

This ethic has led to many life-changing opportunities for Care Closet’s unhoused participants: opportunities such as job placements with Long Beach City Services, housing with special circumstances, and donated cars for participants who go above and beyond.  One of the new ways Care Closet will make an impact is through NHHA’s Community Care Campus in Long Beach.

In a phased approach, NHHA is on course to restore and bring new life to the former Community Hospital of Long Beach and create a revitalized space that will directly serve the community.   “Each Community Care Campus offers an integrated model to care for the whole person and is designed to link the local community to services that aim to meet their needs, from physical health to mental health to supportive housing,” said Dr. Clayton Chau, NHHA Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer.

NHHA’s Community Care Campus Long Beach currently serves the community with programs including Recuperative Care, Short-Term Post-Hospitalization, Street Medicine, Day Habilitation, and supportive housing services. Several additional services are set to launch on site in the coming months, including an urgent care, pharmacy, sobering center, and more.

The partnership between NHHA and Care Closet will lead to even more lives impacted by connecting them to other services that fill the gaps and address all the social determinants of health.

NHHA CEO, Paul Leon, echoes the impact of this partnership: "Our mission has always been to bridge the gap between healthcare and housing for vulnerable populations and reduce the barriers to care for every individual. Partnering with Care Closet allows us to extend our reach and support more individuals through direct outreach programs.”

Care Closet LBC continues to provide essential services such as clothing, hygiene products, and food to the homeless population while advocating for systemic changes to address the root causes of homelessness. With the support of NHHA, Care Closet LBC is poised to enhance its service offerings and make a larger impact in the community.
