NHHA Announces Expansion of Recuperative Care Services at Community Care Campus Long Beach

National Healthcare and Housing Advisors (NHHA) is proud to announce the expansion of Recuperative Care services at Community Care Campus Long Beach (CCCLB) into the newly renovated Hatfield Building. This expansion marks another significant step forward in NHHA’s mission to create safe, supportive environments for individuals experiencing homelessness.

The new Hatfield wing of CCCLB will provide a permanent location for clients in the Recuperative Care program. This supportive program offers individuals without stable housing a safe place to recover after hospital discharge, bridging the gap between acute medical care and long-term stability. In partnership with Encompass Housing, CCCLB’s Recuperative Care program provides essential resources to mitigate these challenges, ensuring that no individual is discharged from medical care to the streets.

Move-in day!

“The expansion into the Hatfield Building is a testament to our commitment to the Long Beach community,” said Deby Wolford, VP of Housing at NHHA and Executive Director of Encompass Housing. “This new space will allow us to enhance our services, reach more people in need, and continue addressing the systemic challenges contributing to homelessness, especially among our senior residents.”

Long Beach continues to face a growing homelessness crisis, with seniors representing one of the fastest-growing demographics. According to the Long Beach 2024 Point in Time (PIT) count, 37% of the homeless population counted were 55 years of age or older. Through CCCLB’s expansion, Encompass is equipped to serve even more individuals, especially the city’s vulnerable senior citizens, who are disproportionately affected by housing insecurity and complex medical conditions.

Since its inception, NHHA has been at the forefront of innovative solutions to homelessness, combining healthcare, housing navigation, and community partnerships to create pathways toward stability. Expanding into the Hatfield Building aligns with NHHA’s holistic approach to care and commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the community.
